Founded in 2000 and nestled among Greenwood Indiana’s,
Old Towne district, Auntie Leila’s was the brainchild of its
owner who wanted only to provide a place where pet owners
could feel comfortable bringing their pets, and knowing that
they were well cared for. Leila, an accountant by trade, knew
from an early age she was meant to work with animals and
15 years ago, gave up a lucrative job to become a groomer.
Leila loves working with animals and has that certain touch,
especially with “special needs” animals who require
additional attention to quell their anxieties.
Auntie Leila’s is housed in a two story, turn of the century
Victorian home that provides a non-smoking, “homey”
environment for the animals. Leila and her staff of three pet
stylists collectively provide over 30 years of professional pet
care experience. Each stylist is devoted to the care and well-
being of the pets they handle and they love and treat their
“clients” like they were their own. Because of their distinct
touch with dogs and cats, Auntie Leila’s has become
Greenwood’s premier place to pamper your pet!
The Barkery Emerges
Leila’s dream to provide nutritious, all natural treats to her
clients became a reality in mid-year 2000. Along with her
business partner, Brenda, The Barkery became Greenwood’s
first and only gourmet pet bakery. As highlighted in
Indianapolis Monthly magazine and the Daily Journal, Auntie
Leila’s Barkery provides not only all natural gourmet treats for
dogs and cats, but breed specific merchandise, unique
boutique items, clocks, collars, pet bowls, toys, jewelry,
clothing, professional pet photography and MORE!
